As of yesterday (Feb. 25) ePrompter started freezing.
I use XP Home, Zone Alarm, Cable, AVG, many spyware trojan scanners (all updated frequently). I have four Yahoo accounts and a few Comcast (pop) accounts. I use a hosts file. I use the final version (updated automatically) of ePreompter.

No, I can not interrupt updating (the program on screen has an hour glass)
No, task manager can not kill the application nor the process
No, I can not reboot, since it can not shut down ePrompter
The only solution is press the power button

I tried removing ePrompter from start up and loading it after boot. It froze amidst it's first update. It is currently frozen amidst one of the Yahoo accounts (one is finished, three are not). I went to the web site and checked and there are no mail items there.

This is very frustrating, please help! I hate having to press the power button!

I wanted to increase the exposure to this problem (shared by many over there) to our visitors.

I'm one of the lucky? No problem at all with EP here. Latest released version is installed in XP Pro SP2. Using Norton 2005 as AV. Outpost Pro as firewall. Connection is broadband.

No problem too in Win2000 SP4 :P
Latest version of EP is in use too. Using AVG 7 free. Firewall is Norton 2004.

As for your issue, I don't think it is AVG Free issue because as I've said I have AVG 7 Free in Win2000 and EP is working fine UNLESS your settings in AVG 7 is different. I'm using default settings for AVG's email scanner and its plug-in.

Try to troubleshoot. If you still have the setup file for older version of EP then uninstall the current and newer version. Install the old version. See if the issue will still happen?

Other method to troubleshoot: Don't downgrade EP. Do a clean-boot.
